We are Christopher and Rachel Kitchen, a husband and wife team of wedding photographers in Hull with a love of storytelling through images.

Our story begins in 2007 when a mutual friend introduced the two of us. We knew on our first date we were made for each other when we discovered Rachel’s maiden name was Cook she was destined to marry a Kitchen in 2013!

Christopher proposed on a remote beach on the island of Lindisfarne in Northumberland on a very, VERY cold day! This is still one of our favourite places to visit and can spend so many hours exploring the sand dunes with beaches as far as the eye can see, you really should go and check it out but don’t forget to check the tide times!

Ever since our wedding we fondly look back at our wedding album and value the photographs within it immensely, images that bring back the happiest memories of the day we began our adventure together as husband and wife. A day spent surrounded by the people that meant the most to us, some of whom we have sadly lost along the way.

We love going on adventures together, trips to the beach are our favourite but anywhere with lots of trees is always a winner too. Despite our love for tranquil places we love letting our hair down at a noisy gig and travelling to different cities on the hunt for nice food and a good cup of coffee!

The youngest member of Christopher Kitchen Photography is our son, he is still too young to be let loose with a camera at a wedding but he is confident that one day he will be a big part of the team. He keeps us on our toes and loves nothing better than making stories with his Lego bricks.

It makes us both so happy to now be able to capture the story of other couples wedding days, knowing that the images we capture will gain value over the years they share together.

CHRIS

I’m 6ft 6” which comes in very handy on wedding days, firstly it gives me an advantage as I rarely need a step ladder to get pictures from up high. Secondly I’m always the first to know when it starts raining.

I fell for the craft of photography at school and developed my technical ability at college and university. I was lucky enough to learn photography on film which taught me to capture the moment the first time as there are no second chances. I now work with digital equipment but still value the lessons learnt on film. I love the ability to capture moments in time forever and enjoy getting creative with composition, angle and lighting.

I find it truly wonderful to be part of a couples wedding day, I love how every wedding is so different and it makes me so happy to meet so many amazing and unique people.

When I’m not working I spend most of my time with my young family, my wife and son are truly my best friends and I love sharing adventures with them. We enjoy trips to the beach, woodland walks and building our own adventures with LEGO bricks! I’m also a huge fan of live music, watercolour painting and a good cup of coffee!

RACHEL

I am a romantic at heart and love a good romcom, my favourites being Made of Honor and The Holiday. Although I have watched these movies many times, these stories make me feel happy over and over again.

I always get so excited on the run up to a wedding day so much so I probably won’t sleep much the night before as I genuinely care that your day is perfect!

Between us we make an awesome team but Chris will tell you I’m the organised one, this probably stems from previously working as a wedding co-ordinator at a local hotel. It’s all in the planning and I love all the small details. I understand the importance of your timeline allowing the day to run as smoothly as possible. I will help Chris organise your group photographs so on the day this part moves as quickly as possible allowing you to enjoy your day to the fullest.

Chris and I both love live music and have enjoyed many great nights at gigs, my playlist around the house is a little more chilled and usually includes tracks by Newton Faulkner who is one of my all-time favourites. Dream Catch Me was our first dance!
